The direction of arrows on the diagram can tell us a lot about where we are in our development. This workshop will explore what your experience is as you move with and against the arrows.
As students of the Enneagram many of us have been conditioned to think of the direction of the arrows as illustrating what happens when we are stressed and when we are secure. While that may be so, it is only part of the story. There is a greater landscape of human experience to be explored in the movement of the arrows – the potential for moving into wholeness in the discovery is large.
As our core Enneagram type can be defensive we can also use the points that link us in the direction of either arrow as part of our defense system. Likewise these points can provide opportunities for growth and development through discovering the virtues that lie hidden behind the passion (vice) of the heart.
In recent years the work of Beatrice Chestnut and Uranio Paes have confirmed what I’ve suspected both from my own experience and also from listening to type exemplars on panels and in organisations:- there’s more to the lines than is usually described in the literature.
Once we know our core type we can use our connections along the lines to further our development in many ways.
Over the course of the day we will look at the movements of the arrows in the diagram and explore the ways we can go beyond our fixated patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving.
